Intrinsic Fire Oxbow
Intrinsic Fire Oxbow
The "puppy hammer" or "oxbow" was inspired by blending the ancient Chinese martial weapon "meteor hammer" with the Māori "poi" from Aotearoa.
The Oxbow is a longer version of meteor poi, often used with nodes or markings along the tether to allow for several different modes of play depending on how you hold it, such as rope dart and even contact staff-like tricks.
It is designed to be long enough to be comfortable enough to spin like poi when in Oxbow mode, but also short enough so that the heads do not scrape the ground when used in other modes.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Oxbows are extremely size dependant and are personalised to your specific anatomical dimensions and play-style preferences.
We strongly suggest if you are unsure about how to size the instrument for yourself, that you reach out and research in online forums and groups to ensure you size it correctly and take into consideration the size(length) of the heads to ensure best fit.
A very basic rule-of-thumb is that when the tether is worn correctly, the top of the heads/ bottom of the attachment "quick links" sit no lower than your elbows.
As standard, our Oxbow tethers are Brummel spliced on to swivels, to which "quick links" can then be attached so that various different heads can be fitted for ease of use.
This does unfortunately mean that there is an amount of exposed metal close to the head which can cause undesirable burns if not used carefully. A way to overcome this issue is to cover the "quick links" in self-fusing silicone tape which we supply in our "Materia" Sub-menu.

Monkey Fist knots remain a beginner staple in fire arts because of the fact that they are especially simple and very low in weight whilst still supplying a generous flame size, making for a perfect starting point in anyone's Oxbow journey.
Crown Sinnet knots have been a fire arts industry favourite for generations by virtue of being more durable than Monkey Fists and have the ability able to soak large amounts of fuel. This, when paired with their abundant surface area, provide a very impressive flame that is not for the faint-of-heart.
Ceres Globe Knots are our answer to a big safety concern that we feel Monkey Fists run into the wider they get. At larger sizes, Globe knots simply out rank them for a number of reasons...
1.) Increased surface area results in larger flames with a more spherical shape for better balance and weight distribution.
2.) Having more faces/facets nearly quadruples the number of crossover points, which means greater fuel absorption in the same amount of space, providing a longer burn time.
3.) Smaller faces/facets and more of them provide a vastly improved lifespan from abrasion and over-burn damage.
Nightshade Urge Knots allow you to enjoy a slice of the iconic Gravity Canvas wick design without the price tag and higher performance specs of their bigger brother. Featuring very light weight construction and modest amounts of surface area and fuel wicking ability, They sit perfectly between Monkey Fists and Sinnet Knots.
Additional internal stainless steel weights can be added biased towards the tip of the head to improve aerodynamic stability for rope dart style moves or for better performance of a cylindrical shape when attempting stalls.
