Monkey Fist knots remain a beginner staple in fire arts because of the fact that they are especially simple and very low in weight whilst still supplying a generous flame size, making for a perfect starting point in anyone's Poi journey.
Crown Sinnet knots have been a fire arts industry favourite for generations by virtue of being more durable than Monkey Fists and have the ability able to soak large amounts of fuel. This, when paired with their abundant surface area, provide a very impressive flame that is not for the faint-of-heart.
Ceres Globe Knots are our answer to a big safety concern that we feel Monkey Fists run into the wider they get. At larger sizes, Globe knots simply out rank them for a number of reasons...
1.) Increased surface area results in larger flames with a more spherical shape for better balance and weight distribution.
2.) Having more faces/facets nearly quadruples the number of crossover points, which means greater fuel absorption in the same amount of space, providing a longer burn time.
3.) Smaller faces/facets and more of them provide a vastly improved lifespan from abrasion and over-burn damage.
Nightshade Urge Knots allow you to enjoy a slice of the iconic Gravity Canvas wick design without the price tag and higher performance specs of their bigger brother. Featuring very light weight construction and modest amounts of surface area and fuel wicking ability, They sit perfectly between Monkey Fists and Sinnet Knots.
Integrated:
Undoubtedly provides the most connected feeling between tether and head, making moves such as stalls and throws far less effort. However, this method does make the tether non-replaceable if it becomes damaged, so extra care is required when fuelling, burning and storing your Poi.
Exposed Eyelet:
Allows for the tether to be replaced if it becomes damaged, but it does add an extra point of movement between the tether and the head which makes some tricks less consistent to perform until you are used to accommodating for it.
Chain Tail:
3 links of stainless chain are built into the head moving the Technora further away from the flame, which significantly increases the life of the tether and can be replaced if it becomes damaged. Although convenient, it adds several extra points of movement into the tether's performance.
With the use of small stainless steel "quck links" tethers can be made removeable for easier storage purposes.
Another advantage is that you can swap out different tether styles or for instance, you can quickly convert your Puppy Hammer or Rope Dart Snake Tongue heads into a set of poi.
Please be aware that the "quick links" do increase the amount of exposed metal hardware which, if not concentrating, could result in burns to hands and other areas of exposed skin.
Individual tethers are also sold in the POI menu.
